Highlights, including Arabia Steamboat Museum)A driving tour of Downtown Kansas City, MO will include historic buildings, new skyscrapers, newly erected Federal Courthouse & Government Square. A stop at Lewis & Clark Point offers a vista of the Missouri & Kansas Rivers and the mangificent monument to the famous explorers. Steamboat Arabia Museum is a truely unique experience. The Arabia sank north of KC in 1856 & rested until 1988 when excavated. Over 200 tons of original cargo was recovered and much of it is on display. This collection of pre-Civill War artifacts is the largest in the country. Your next stop will be the Country Club Plaza, home to more than 170 shops, boutiques, restaurants, theaters, etc. and is the city's Crown Jewel. You are sure to enjoy the beauty of the many fountains, imported statuary and lovely Moorish architecture. The Plaza, as locals call it, opened its first shop in 1922 and today the area is still the favorite shopping center for out-of-town guests and locals alike. You will have the remainder of the afternoon for lunch on your own and shopping.
